Kay Judge, M.D., is a board-certified Internal Medicine specialist who brings her interest in traditional practices to her patients. Her goal is to help her patients find balance between mind, body, emotions and spirit so that they can attain their fullest potential as human beings. Dr. Judge received her medical training at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. She was a senior staff physician and teaching attending at Henry Ford Hospital prior to joining Sutter Medical Group in 2003. Dr. Judge creates a supportive environment to empower her patients to search for their own healing process. This is achieved by giving recommendations based on a combination of conventional (western) medicine, health and lifestyle modifications and alternative treatment options. Since all treatment modalities do not fit all illnesses, a combination of conventional medicine as well as alternative modalities are applied to optimize the process of healing.
Maxine Barish-Wreden, M.D., graduated from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in 1985 and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at UC Davis Medical Center in 1988. She has been practicing medicine in Sacramento since then and has been with Sutter Medical Group since 1992. She has a long-term passionate interest in Complementary Medicine, particularly Mind-Body-Spirit Medicine, and in the capacity of the human body, psyche, and spirit to heal, given the appropriate environment. She is also passionate about the impact of life style choices on health and wellness, including nutrition and exercise. She is Co-Medical Director of the Sutter Downtown Integrative Medicine Program and writes a weekly column on Integrative Medicine for the Sacramento Bee with her medical partner, Kay Judge, M.D. She is also Co-Medical Director of the Sutter Women’s Heart Advantage, a Sutter system-wide program devoted to educating women, their families, and their physicians about the risks, symptoms, and prevention of heart disease.
Dr. Barish-Wreden and Dr. Judge are with the Sutter Downtown Integrative Medical Group. They are part of a group of health practitioners committed to integrating evidence-based alternative therapies with conventional medical practices. They consider illness and other life challenges to be teachers that invite us to explore what is needed to restore balance and wholeness in our bodies, minds and spirits. They acknowledge that there are many paths to healing, and encourage the exploration and integration of multiple healing modalities that address what is most important to each individual.
